Chimney Cricket, Inc. – Where Family Makes the Difference
Chimney Cricket Inc. was established in 1989 and incorporated in 1993. Its owner/operator, Phil Taggart, has been in the chimney business for over 40 years. His background in fireplace and chimney construction has given Chimney Cricket, Inc. the ability to take on complex projects that many chimney sweeps are not willing or able to take on. He even built some of the chimneys his company now services.

Phil began chimney sweeping in 1991 as a side business. Soon after, however, his “side business” blossomed into a full-service company with a fleet of service vehicles and offices in a beautiful historic building in Springfield. His wife Jane joined the company in 1993, managing the office until 2004 when she was diagnosed with cancer (sadly, Jane passed away in 2008). The day-to-day affairs of the office have been superbly handled by Ginger Whalen since 2005. Phil and Jane's son, Gregory Taggart, also joined them full-time in 1993 and continues to work alongside Phil today. Their daughter, Rebecca, has even joined in the sweep and construction work at various times over the years and, since the addition of her own family, now manages the office part-time from home. Phil's son-in-law Peter Beardsley, who recently joined the business, along with a crew of skilled part-time technicians, completes our team. The whole team enjoys great camaraderie both on and off the clock - when you work for Chimney Cricket you're part of the family!
